 Kitamura TFT Defect Statement & Warranty Policy
Kitamura are proud to only sell the best brands of TFT monitors & TV's. We ensure every one is free from defects before and after purchase. Due to the precise manufacturing process of TFT's, there are rarely failures, but it does happen. There may appear one or more bright dots on your display. This is normal, however, there are limits in the law that say how many of these faulty pixels (known as dead pixels) can appear before the screen is rendered defective.

The following table depicts unacceptable defects:

If your display exhibits a defect listed in the table above, we will be glad to replace it, free of charge. If we cannot get you the same equipment, we will supply you with an alternate brand, equal to or greater than the value of your defective display, at no extra cost. For laptops, see below.

If the screen of a laptop or TV purchased from us becomes defective, within our 12 month guarantee, or extended warranty period (if purchased) we endeavour to replace it. We have different policies depending on the laptop or TV. See below.

Laptop TFT Policy

New Laptop

If the screen on a brand new laptop becomes defective, we are required to return the whole laptop back to the manufacturer. We will replace the laptop with another of the same make and model, if possible. If we can replace it with an exact model, we will simply swap out the hard drive for you, so no backups or reconfiguration/reinstallation of programs are required. You will need ALL original packaging, our sales assistant will have advised you of this at time of purchase.

If we cannot replace it with the exact make/model as the faulty one, we will replace it with one of similar or greater value, backing up your data from the hard drive of the faulty one for you, and assisting with any software re-installation/configuration, at no extra cost.

Second User Laptop

If the screen of a second user laptop purchased from us becomes defective within its 6 month warranty, we will either replace the screen itself, if possible, or we will replace the laptop, with one of exact or greater value, as above. We will replace just the screen only if we have the parts available, you will be notified of our intention. You may need to leave the machine with us for an hour or so, while the work is carried out.

TV TFT Policy

If the screen of a TV purchased from us becomes defective, within our 12 month guarantee, or extended warranty period (if purchased) we endeavour to replace it. We have different policies depending on the TV. See below. This Policy covers both LCD and Plasma equipment.

New TV (Plasma/LCD)

If the screen on a brand new TV bought from us becomes defective, we are required to return the whole unit back to the manufacturer. We will replace the TV with another of the same make and model, if possible. We will arrange collection of the unit from your home or premises, free of charge. You will need ALL original packaging, our sales assistant will have advised you of this at time of purchase.

If we cannot replace it with the exact make/model as the faulty one, we will replace it with one of similar or greater value, at no extra cost.

Second User TV (Plasma/LCD)

If the screen of a second user TV purchased from us becomes defective within its 6 month warranty, we will either replace the screen itself, if possible, or we will replace the whole set, with one of exact or greater value, as above. We will replace just the screen only if we have the parts available, you will be notified of our intention. You may need to leave the machine with us for up to two days, while the work is carried out.

This policy only applies to equipment within its warranty, the period of which is below:

Warranty Periods

New TFT TV/Monitor: 12 Months or the maximum period of extended warranty if purchased.

2nd User TFT TV/Monitor: 6 Months

New Laptop: 12 Months or the maximum period of extended warranty if purchased.

2nd User Laptop: 6 Months

Extended warranties are not yet available on 2nd user equipment. Equipment out of warranty is not covered by this Policy, and will be subject to repair costs, if you decide to have us repair it, and is viably economical to do so.

PLEASE NOTE: Damage to equipment deemed to be customer abuse voids ANY warranty, and any repairs are chargeable at full rate. Our engineers are highly trained in spotting this, and the condition of equipment is noted at original sale.
